Hublot DayNight

Three years ago I did this project. Just for fun – after taking interview with JC Biver in Moscow I quess in December, 2008, I was inspired by the possibility to invent some simple but never seen “small” complication.

The idea is to create a watch suitable to wear in everyday life – technical, modest and precise in appearance, that will be possible just after one push on button (over crown) to transform into “evening” watch – with diamonds and joy.

Therefore indexes marked with red colour mean the start of working time – i.e. 10 a.m. and the start of “evening” time – i.e. 8 p.m. (just for hint). At 10 a.m. Hublot DayNight is converted into “day” watch, at 8 p.m. – into “night” watch.

Another function for Hublot DayNight – to be play watch, when owner converts watch forth and back just for joy.

Of cause it is easy to create movement that will automatically change face from day appearance to night appearance.

Jaquet Droz dial painting

Thanks to Jaquet Droz I had unique experience of miniature laquer painting on enamelled dials. JD did special presentation 24th of November in JD boutique (Petrovsky Passage, Moscow), and every invited had the oppertunity to test himself in difficult art of miniature. It was not easy, time consuminng and demanding to attention and meticulousness. The dial "blanc" has sketch - bird on branch, and the rest was up to fantasy of "painted". I did dial painting twice - first using proposed picture layout with sea and mountain and the second with some knowledge of JD collection with sunny background. The only thing - now I have two JD dials and no one watch:(

Hommage to Rolf (1)

14th of April Rolf Schnyder unexpectedly passed away. Last time I saw him in Saint-Petersburg, he was there while presenting 'Lady in Red' watch. First time I met him in 1995 in Le Locle. He asked: "Do you have Ulysse Nardin book? No? OK, you will have it"... I have the book. But there is no more Rolf. My farewell to Rolf - one of my early ideas concerning Ulysse Nardin watch: "GMT± a Minutes".

This was like thunderbolt - at my birthday time I realized that time did not present us something nice, clear and arithmetic like "our Universe is uniform in space and time". Time offers us something unclear, puzzles and teasers... That's why this Creation #1. In two faces.
